Hayley MacFarlane is an award winning Australian director who grew up on the sunny East Coast. Her graduate short film Hummingbirds (2012) received praise both nationally and internationally, and put Hayley on the world map from a young age. Hayley’s follow up short film, Growing Young (2015) starring Samara Weaving, screened at festivals around the world to similar acclaim and success. Fresh out of film school, Hayley signed with award-winning Brisbane Production Company Two Little Indians. Hayley then took her talent overseas, moving to London in 2014 making her mark in reality TV. Opportunities from around the world followed with Hayley directing some of the UK’s and Australia’s hottest reality shows such as 2019 BAFTA award winning I’m a Celebrity.. Get Me Out of Here, Big Brother UK, Love island (Australia & UK) and more.
Hayley has just recently completed her debut feature film, Swimming For Gold starring Peyton List, which has been sold to a major US studio and is being released in cinemas in 2020. She has a TV drama, Tumbling, in development that she co-wrote with writer/ producer James Greville, a comedy based loosely on the lives of her and her two sisters. Hayley is also in pre production on a brand new TV drama for the Steve Jaggi Company, due to shoot in 2020, while also in development on her second feature film, Evergreen.
Hayley is a versatile director, with a strong focus on performances and a remarkable ability for gritty story telling that is visually beautiful.
